All right, so this is the Manfrotto 504PLONG quick release plate. This is a longer version of the 200PL, this is meant for cameras and lenses that you need a little bit more extra length, because it has a maximum of 5.5 inches. It comes with the standard 1/4″-20 thread and it comes with a 3/8″ bushing adapter for larger cameras, and it comes with this nice pin, which is a plastic pin that attaches here, this is usually meant for the larger camcorders, but it can work great when you’re working with a big massive lens like this, because now, I have the capability of attaching this on here and when I lock it on, it’s not going to have the twist factor going on. There’s no way this is going to twist because now it’s thread on with the 1/4″-20 and the pin is holding it directly over here, so you’re not going to have the capability of this twisting off for some reason, and again you can work with regular cameras with longer telephoto lenses, or like they state in their ad, where Manfrotto says if you happen to have an unbalanced format camera, like something like this, where you have a super telephoto zoom and you have it placed onto a small mirrorless camera, this is where the 504PL quick release plate comes in very handy. Now, let me show you how easy this is to it onto the 504 head. Now, remember you have to have this securely fastened, this is the 504PL plate, probably use like a coin to make sure that it’s nice and tight on there, because you don’t want to come loose, but notice how when you place it onto the 504PL head you hold this down and you can actually move it back and forth, depending on how much play you want, and then, when you have it where you want to set, you lock it in place and there, now it’s going to stay there whether you want to pan or tilt or whatever you choose to do, it’s not going to come off there. So, that’s a really good accessory if you are working with the larger video heads from Manfrotto. Make sure you have a couple of extra 504PLONG quickly release plates.
