I’ve been really enjoying the conference because,
as always with this conference, it’s very multi-disciplinary, so I’ve been going to
talks about the economics of pharmaceutical drugs, to the latest developments in my own field. Well for me, I think one of the big excitements is the new developments in immunotherapy
and particularly the new generation of CAR-T cells that’s being generated and the thinking that’s now going into how we might use those to treat solid tumours. So next year the NCRI
conference is going to be in Belfast and I think it’s going to be a terrific conference
because there’s a lot of very exciting science that’s going on both in Northern Ireland but
also in Ireland and they’re going to be bringing all of those scientists together to talk about
the latest cancer research.
